Are you a choreographer or dance creator looking to expand your international network? Would you like to gain insight into the motivations of international programmers and are you interested in global developments within dance? The Performing Arts Fund NL is offering eight professional choreographers the opportunity to participate in a networking trip to festival Tanz im August in Berlin, Germany from Thursday, August 22 to Sunday, August 25, 2024.
Background
The Performing Arts Fund NL promotes international exchange by supporting collaborations across borders, presentations of Dutch performing arts abroad and activities that increase the visibility of Dutch performing arts internationally. In order to develop an international practice, it’s important for artists to establish and maintain foreign contacts. We occasionally organise networking trips with that goal in mind.
About the networking trip
As a participant in the networking trip, you’ll attend (international) performances at the festival, meet international dance professionals and programmers and participate in workshops. Afterwards, you’ll also write an evaluation of your visit.

The programme is a collaboration between Tanz im August, HAU Hebbel am Ufer and the Fund.
For whom?
We’re looking for candidates (m/f/x) who:

  • Are professionally active in dance and have created between 5 and 15 productions;
  • Are choreographers or dance creators with international ambitions;
  • Reside and work in the Netherlands or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands;
  • Can participate throughout the entire four-day period (August 22-25, 2024) of the networking trip.

Candidates in need of assistance due to a disability are warmly invited to apply.
What we offer
  • A programme that includes meetings with programmers and other creators, attendance at performances and participation in workshops;
  • Travel reimbursement from your residence in the Netherlands to Berlin and back. Only 2nd class train costs will be reimbursed. Travelers from the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will have their (flight) travel costs covered;
  • Accommodation for three or four nights in Berlin;
  • Meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) for four days;
  • Tickets for performances and other activities;
  • Guidance from a Fund staff member.
How to apply
If you meet the requirements and would like to participate in the networking trip, send a written motivation in English (max. 1 A4) or video motivation (max. 2 minutes, no performance material) to internationalepromotie@fondspodiumkunsten.nl. Please include an English CV and, if applicable, a link to your website. The application deadline is Wednesday, June 5, 2024, 11:59 PM (CEST).

A maximum of eight participants will be selected. The match between creators and the international festival and a balanced composition of the group form part of the consideration. Applicants will receive a reply within two weeks after the deadline.
